Back Bay

Boston’s iconic Back Bay is one of the city’s most sought-after neighborhoods. Created over many decades as the city filled-in its many estuaries, bays, and portions of its harbor to create the modern city we know today. Upon completion, the Back Bay was an immediate hit with wealthy Bostonians seeking to showcase their status and position with grand mansions, many in the beaux arts and French mansard style.

With the Charles River and it’s world-famous Esplanade to the north, the Public Garden and Boston Common to the east, the Fens to the west, and the Commonwealth Avenue Mall running through it’s center, the Back Bay is rich in parkland and recreational spaces to enjoy throughout the year.

Today the Back Bay retains its status as one of America’s truly premier residential neighborhoods with an ecletic mix of grand, 19th Century town houses and full-service, luxury high-rise condominiums.

It is also home to some of the country’s finest architectural treasures like Trinity Church and the Boston Public Library as well some of Boston’s iconic luxury hotels like the Copley Plaza, The Lenox, and the Eliot, while Raffles’ first North American hotel is currently under construction. This fashionable neighborhood also hosts one of the country’s prime shopping districts and is home to many of the world’s leading purveyors of luxury goods in the boutiques and specialty shops that line chic Newbury Street and Copley Place.
